ACES Course Facts and Information
ACES stands for Accomplishing Challenges Equals Success. The ACES Course is a 13-event challenge course built in August 2002. Course construction was funded by grants from the Tennessee Department of Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the national youth media campaign, "VERB: It's What You Do." The course was built by ADVENTUREWORKS from Kingston Springs, Tennessee. The ACES Course is used by Trenton Special School District and Gibson County Special School District and is available for use by community, church, civic, and corporate groups.
Challenge courses, such as the ACES Course, are effective in working with groups of all ages. Groups can work on developing skills such as communication, trust, respect, leadership, teamwork, and vision. Groups that have found the ACES Course useful include youth leadership classes, adult leadership classes, teacher in-services, church youth groups, adult church groups, juvenile court, sports teams, afterschool programs, alternative school groups, high school classes, and CDC classes.
"Challenge courses may resemble obstacle courses, but there are some important differences. Challenge courses do not require special athletic ability or physical prowess. They are not competitions of endurance or strength. Instead, they focus on cooperative effort from groups." adventureworks.com
