Keyboarding Applications teaches basic keyboarding skills using the computer. Students become familiar with the various software that teaches database, spreadsheet and word processing skills.
Spreadsheets Applications is a 1/2 credit course where students learn to organize, input, and format data by using spreadsheet features. Students develop skills in designing worksheets, writing formulas, analyzing data, charting data and managing data. Database Design is a 1/2 course credit where students learn to organize related items in a database system. The ability to process records within the database to maintain the efficiency of the information is also taught. At the end of the course, students will be able to design and implement a relational database application.
Accounting/Automated Accounting is a course that teaches students how to keep records for any business. They will learn the concepts of accounting, and will gain a comprehensive working knowledge of the concepts of accounting. They will also learn accounts payable accounts receivable, payroll record procedures, income/loss statements, balance sheets, etc.
Document Creation Design is a 1/2 credit course where students will use hands on approach to develop proficiency in document preparation. Emphasis is on production of business applications including design and layout, speed and accuracy, concepts, capabilities, procedures and legal responsibilities. Desktop Publishing is a 1/2 credit course where students will develop skills in electronic publishing design, layout, composition and paste-up. Students will research and apply copyright laws, ethical practices, and language arts skills with reference to electronic publishing.
