8th Grade EXPO
Eighth grade students from the district's five junior high/middle schools are
invited to spend a day at Gibson County High School to attend the 8th grade
EXPO. The day's activities include the following:
--visit booths explaining the courses that freshmen enroll in and talk to teachers of these courses
--tour the campus
--attend information sessions about registering for freshman classes
--participate in a question/answer session with high school students
--visit the cafeteria and enjoy lunch in the gym
--learn about extracurricular activities by talking to student organization leaders
The purpose of EXPO is to familiarize eighth graders with high school and relieve anxiety associated with entering high school. We want entering freshmen to transition smoothly to GCHS. A half-day orientation follows in the summer prior to school's starting.
A parent version of EXPO is offered on the evening following the student program.
