Financial Aid
Students planning to attend postsecondary institutions (colleges, technology centers, cosmetology schools, business schools) upon graduation from high school may apply for financial aid to help finance the cost of their education. A financial aid meeting for seniors and parents is held each year in early January to explain the types of aid available and how to apply.
The primary application for the majority of financial assistance is the FAFSA. Filing
the FAFSA can be done online or by filling out a paper application.
Federal Pell grant, college work-study, student loans, TN Lottery Scholarships--all of these require that
the student file the FAFSA. Parents receive a letter of invitation to the
financial aid parent meeting in January. Because students and parents must
use financial information from the previous year's IRS form, it is imperative
that the FAFSA not be filed prior to January of their child's senior year!
Remember: Do Not File FAFSA until January of the student's Senior year!
