Powerful Words...

Each year while taking the TCAP test, students read words that may be unfamiliar to them. In Gibson County, teachers are working hard to ensure that all students are able to recognize and understand the 12 Powerful words listed below. What makes the words powerful? These words encourage students to think at a higher level. We encourage parents to begin using these words in their vocabulary at home as well. Speak with your child's teacher to learn ways in which to incorporate these words into everyday conversations at home.

Trace, Analyze, Infer, Evaluate, Formulate, Describe, Support, Explain, Summarize, Compare, Contrast, and Predict

Striving for Gold
TCAP test week was definitely our time to strive for gold. All of our students worked hard and we as teachers are so proud of them. During TCAP camp, 2nd -4th grade students participated in break out groups to review important reading and math skills. To wrap up our week of review, the students participated in lighting the TCAP torch, a walk of Olympians, Olympic games, and a medal ceremony. You can see our "Walk of Olympians" by clicking on the picture.
