- Medina Middle School begins the day at 7:45 a.m. and ends the day at 2:45. If your student arrives after 7:45 a.m. he/she will be tardy and will need to check into the office.
- Car Riders need to be picked up no later than 3:15.
- The dress code and Medina is strictly enforced. Those who violate the dress code will be required to contact parents for a change of clothing. Students will not be permitted to attend their classes until their clothing complies to the dress code policy. Students will receive and unexcused absence for each class they miss.
- Please keep in mind that lockers are public school property and are subject to search and seizure. Items found in locker that are illegal will be dealt with and according to school board policy. A search of your locker and all of its contents (backpack, purses, etc.) can occur at any time. Locks will be available and anything stolen from a locker that is not secure will be the responsibility of the person assigned that locker.
- Cell phones at school will be permitted as long as they are not turned on during the school day and by no means used without direct permission from school personnel. The school will not check book bags and purses for phones but if the student is caught using it in the building it will be taken up. Parents will be required to come to the office to pick up the cell phone. The first offense will require the phone to be held in the schools office for a minimum of 2 weeks. A second offense will result in a longer time period at which time the student will loose the right to have a cell phone on school property. This is in compliance with school board policy 6.312.

- Disorderly conduct, the illegal possession of weapons, and the illegal use, possession, distribution, and sale of tobacco, alcohol, and other drugs by students is prohibited. The policy is a Zero Tolerance policy and infractions of this rule can result in a minimum of a 1-year expulsion from school.
What is the attendance policy?
- A parent or guardian must call the office on the day of the absence and notify the principal or his secretary of the reason the student is absent. Failure to call in can result in an unexcused absence for the student.
- The student will bring a note explaining the absence when he/she returns to school. A students may only bring 5 notes from parents explaining illness. All other notes must be doctors notes.
- Absences may be excused for the following reasons: student illness, medical or dental attention, or death of any immediate family member. Illnesses should not go for more than 2 days without a doctor's note.
- Students who arrive late at school must sign in at the office. Students who are absent for a full or partial day must bring a note to the office from their parents or doctor before returning to class. Students will have 2 days for each absence to make up any missed work.
- If a student is absent for more than 5 days during a semester that student can be considered as truant and truned over to truancy board for evaluation.
- After a maximum of 10 absences (excused or unexcused) per semester and 20 per school year a student will receive a failing semester average which could make this student ineligibel for promotion to the next grade if the absenteeism is in violation of this policy.
May my child take medicine at the school?
- In the event that your child should need to take any prescription medication at school, the parent must send the medicine with a docotr's note, or a written note bearing the parent's signature, indicating exactly what time and how much medicine is to be given. All medication including medicine for headaches will be kept in a safe area upon arrival to school. Please be sure the student's name is on the medicine bottle.
What time does my child eat breakfast or lunch?
- Breakfast is served from 7:10 to 7:50 each morning. Lunch is served according to the student's classroom schedule. Please refer to the teacher's website for schedule information. You are allowed to eat with your child. Please sign in as a visitor at the school office.
