The Gibson County School District currently maintains a network of 14
servers with over 900 computers. Each school is connected to our
network through a 100 MB fiber connection providing high speed internet access for
all students and staff. The district currently averages a little more
than 3 students per
computer. Labs are available in all schools, in addition to computers
in all classrooms. Educational Networks of America (ENA) is our internet
provider. They also provide our internet content filtering. We
are CIPA compliant. (Children's Internet Protection Act)
We have recently added LCD projectors to all classrooms, and inactive
whiteboards, using eBeam technology, are in many classrooms.
Our goal in instructional technology is to use of technology in classrooms as
a common practice. Ideally, the classroom would mirror the world outside,
and students will perform equally at ease in either environment.
The technology staff includes one technician, one network administrator, and
an instructional technology coach to provide support.
