Library/Media Center

The Yorkville School library/media center has 7 computers used for Accelerated Reader tests. All are Internet capable and are hooked to a HP LaserJet printer. There is also a large screen television that can be used with Direct TV or a vcr/dvd player. There are approximately 3200 AR tests and books with another 1000 books without AR tests in the collection. Reference books include a set of World Book encyclopedia, Tennessee Encyclopedia, dictionaries, and thesaurus.

Also attached to the library is a mobile lab of 16 laptop computers and a printer.

Short Term Goals

  1. To improve and promote reading enjoyment by providing books on a variety of subjects and on a variety of reading levels for students and teachers.
  2. To continue to develop the collection and to strive to reach minimum standards.
    1. Continue to develop the collection by acquiring new books and Accelerated Reading tests, educational videocassettes, and other materials.

    1. To increase the teacher resource area in the library and make it more relevant for the teachers.

RULES

We have 3170 books and AR tests.

We have a set of World Books 2000.

There are a variety of reference books and materials.d others

Also provided are 7 computers with printer connections used for AR tests and reference work with printer connections. All are Internet capable.

Two book fairs are held each year.

The money made will be spent on books, tests, and videotapes to be used in the library and classrooms.
