• ACT - Every junior in the state of Tennessee is required to take the ACT in the spring each year. For students who desire additional testing opportunities, the ACT is available in September, October, December, February, April, and June. GCHS is a national test center.

    ASVAB - The Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery is a multiple aptitude test developed and maintained by the Department of Defense. This assessment will be administered to all juniors in the fall. Military recruiters are available to do follow-up interpretation of scores including ACT predictions, possible career paths, and opportunities in the military.

    EOC - End of Course exams for the state of TN are given in the following subjects: Biology, Chemistry, and U.S. History. These scores will be counted as 25% of one quarter’s grades. These are administered in December and May.

    PLAN - The PLAN Assessment is administered to all sophomore students. This assessment includes an academic test, a career interest inventory, study skills assessment, and needs assessment. PLAN is administered in the fall semester.

    PSAT - Sophomores and juniors who wish to enter the National Merit Scholarship Competition take the PSAT at their own expense in the fall semester.

    TNReady - These assessments for the state of TN are given in the following subjects: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, English I, English II, English III, and U.S. History & Geography. These are administered in November and December for fall classes as well as April and May for spring classes. These scores will be counted as 25% of one quarter’s grades.
