Interested in a Legal Career?

SGCHS Students:

Are you interested in a legal career?

Inns of Court has committed to sponsor the "Law and Government Explorer Post" which provides local young men and women in high school insight into legal careers.  Volunteers (local judges and attorneys) from the Inn will put on a program once a month as to the various types of careers one could pursue in the legal field.

The following topics will be presented over the next few months:

September:  Open House at the Federal Courthouse for interested young people

October:  General overview of our legal system and what lawyers do

November:  Criminal law

January:  Family law

February:  Judicial system from the perspective of the bench

March:  Civil trial law

April:  Non-traditional legal jobs

May:  What you need to know now if you want to be a lawyer

Open House will be on September 30 at 3:30 p.m. at the Federal Courthouse (111 South Highland Avenue, Jackson, TN).  The other programs will be held in various courtrooms and the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.  Each program (other than the Open House) will start at 5:30 p.m. and end no later than 7:00 p.m.

There will be a minimal cost for each participant.
