Gibson County Special School District (GCSSD) is proud to announce a 40% increase in Dual Enrollment opportunities for students during the 2026–2027 school year. Through expanded partnerships with the University of Tennessee at Martin (UT Martin) and the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Jackson, students now have more opportunities than ever to earn college credit while still in high school.
The expanded offerings provide students with additional pathways that align with high-demand careers and workforce needs. Students can earn transferable college credit while exploring fields that match their interests and future goals.
New and expanded Dual Enrollment opportunities include:
Teaching as a Profession – New Educator Academy at UT Martin
Agriculture – TCAT Farming Operations and Digital Agronomy
Health Science – TCAT PCT and Medical Assisting
Culinary Arts – TCAT Culinary Essentials
Information Technology/Computer Science – TCAT Computer Information Technology
Building Construction – TCAT General Construction Technology
Entrepreneurship – TCAT Retail, Hospitality, and Tourism
Maintenance & Light Repair – TCAT Automotive Technology
Welding/Advanced Manufacturing – TCAT Welding
In addition to these Dual Enrollment pathways, GCSSD also offers Bio-STEM opportunities that provide students with advanced STEM learning experiences.
College credits earned through these programs transfer to most two- and four-year institutions, allowing students to begin their postsecondary education while still in high school. By earning college credit early, students can reduce future college costs, accelerate degree completion, and gain valuable experience before graduation.
