Gibson County Special School District has been approved by the Tennessee Department of Education to launch a licensed virtual school for the 2026–2027 school year.
The GCSSD Virtual Innovation Academy, in partnership with Pearson Virtual Schools, offers a flexible learning option with instruction from Tennessee-licensed Pearson teachers and a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum.
Students can earn a regular high school diploma and may also have access to AP/Honors courses and select hands-on CTE classes like Agriculture, Culinary, Welding, and MLR.

We know that a loss of this nature brings up a complex wave of grief, anger, anxiety, and confusion. Gibson County Special School District Students Attend SCOPE Conference 2026
Students from GCSSD recently attended the SCOPE Conference, where they participated in sessions focused on leadership, collaboration, and personal growth. Representing Gibson County were Carly Thompson and Addyson Litton from GCHS and Juliet Barker and Lessie Kennedy from SGCHS.
Students were accompanied by chaperones Ms. Tammy Lovell and Ms. Chelsea Matamoros. The students had the opportunity to connect with peers, learn new leadership skills, and bring valuable ideas back to their schools.
