Fall Break is wrapping up, and flu season is just around the corner! We're hosting flu shot clinics for students with signed parent forms and staff who preregistered. If you've decided to not get the shot, email Amy Richardson at richardsona1@gcssd.org by 8:00 AM on Tuesday, October 14th with the subject No Flu Shot and your child’s name. Clinics will be held at SGC schools on Tuesday 10/14 and other district schools on Wednesday 10/15.

The Gibson County Health Department will hold immunization clinics for students to receive their required Pre-K, K, and 7th-grade school vaccinations during the open house. Students and parents are invited to attend any of these clinics.

The YMCA Summer Food Program will provide a 7-day meal pack for children aged 18 and under from May 24, 2025, to August 2, 2025. Gibson County High School students Jack Ball and Dillion Reynolds, along with South Gibson County High School students Holland Johnson and Ava Holifield, joined 246 of their peers in Nashville on March 11 to share their views on public education in Tennessee at the Tennessee School Boards Association (TSBA) Student Congress on Policies in Education (SCOPE) held at Belmont University. SCOPE is designed to give students a voice in public education issues and engage young people in finding solutions to the topics discussed. Attendees participated in mock school board sessions led by school board members and superintendents from across the state, where they assumed the roles of school board members, school officials, parents, students, and concerned citizens.t are discussed. February 7th, National WEAR RED Day, the icon day of American Heart Month. Several staff members and Board Member John Campbell wore RED to help raise awareness of cardiovascular disease.

We recently had a webinar to inform parents and students about the various opportunities available for high school coursework. This session focused on the current offerings of high school classes, specifically emphasizing the new flexibilities introduced by the Tennessee State Board of Education. I know many of you may have had obligations and we wanted to make sure the recording was available for those who couldn’t make the webinar.
