Students from GCSSD recently attended the SCOPE Conference, where they participated in sessions focused on leadership, collaboration, and personal growth. Representing Gibson County were Carly Thompson and Addyson Litton from GCHS and Juliet Barker and Lessie Kennedy from SGCHS.
Students were accompanied by chaperones Ms. Tammy Lovell and Ms. Chelsea Matamoros. The students had the opportunity to connect with peers, learn new leadership skills, and bring valuable ideas back to their schools.

Happy School Resource Officer Day! 👮♂️💙

Gibson County Special School District has partnered with the University of Tennessee at Martin to launch the Innovation Hub!
Today, we celebrated this partnership with our Innovation in Motion event. Guests enjoyed refreshments prepared by GCHS Culinary Arts students, networked with one another, and heard remarks from GCSSD Director of Schools, Mr. Eddie Pruett, and UTM Chancellor, Dr. Yancy Freeman.
Through the Innovation Hub, we will expand STEM opportunities, provide professional development for teachers, enhance educational support, increase early postsecondary opportunities, and create NEW ways for GCSSD students to earn UTM credit beyond traditional dual enrollment.
We’re excited to see how this partnership will continue to benefit our students and community! 🚀
